Our Trip To Frozen Lake Michigan

What do you do in Michigan when you can't go swimming in the lake during the frigid winter? You go climb on the frozen waves. This winter has marked a special occasion for us Michiganders due to the extra below freezing temperatures in February leaving us with ice caves on the shores of Lake Michigan. They are neat and do not happen every year.

Please note we would not put our Daughters in danger on the ice/lake. We did not allow them inside an ice cave.

The girls had a blast sight seeing and exploring the frozen big lake. If you have never been there before during the winter, you should visit if you get a chance. It's great to get some photos of for sure. Although this trip was not for professional photos...just fun family memories.

I'm sure we made some great family memories in the girls books with this beach trip. Ha! They did not want to leave one bit. I don't blame them, it is pretty fun playing on frozen waves that are so many feet frozen beneath your feet. Plus being able to go out further than you original are able to during the actual summer months when the waves are not frozen. Did I not mention being able to also "skate" on the frozen waves in your snow boots? They had them sold.

Even though it is a stunning sight in the winter I am thrilled that we are now receiving temperatures that are more spring like. I am ready to go back to the beach and actually swim in warm waters and play in warm sand. How about you?

How totally cool!! Amazing pictures!! I remember one winter in my childhood when Lake Erie was the same. I'm sure Lake Erie would be that way now but I don't feel like making the 5 mile trip (hahaha) - I like winter but this has been a long one.
Great post!
