Our Family 2014 Family Photos Reveal

Welcome to our 2014 family photo reveal. If you follow the blog via Instgram you may have noticed a couple sneak peaks that I have posted. 

Every year we get our family photos done. This is something that is important and meaningful to me. This year we had the chance to do a session at a local county fair. I have always wanted to go our family photos at a fair. After all fairs are full of colors and fun lights everywhere...and yes people. But you just work around that. 

We had such a blast at our photo session. As far as the girls, I think they would vote this years family photos the best and most fun thus far. Lastly, I would like to give thanks and a round of applause to Jen Light Photography for doing an amazing job and working with us!

Our Mother & Daughter Photos Plus The Storm

This Sunday (yesterday) we went on a fun family adventure involving a task of trying to accomplish some Mother/ Daughter Photos. When I bought my camera and started my photography I taught my husband how to use my camera. It helps we are both artistic. I posed us while he took the photos. Although I to admit being your own photographer isn't all that easy. But we sure had fun and made the best out of it. At the end I always end up saying to my husband, " you did good, we should be a team!" With that, here is our Mother/ Daughter photos. Some were not as photogenic as others. Can you tell? 

And the storm. The storm made for a great picture background off Lake Michigan as it slowly rolled in on to lake shore. Though you never know what is going to hit once it comes on land. It may just die out. All the storm photographers were out with their major cameras trying to catch the lightning. This storm had none and only one rumble of thunder. Leaving beach goers not worried...or us.

Our Christmas Preview!

I am determined this year to mail out family Christmas cards. I mean it. I really really mean it. Pinky promise. Call me old fashion, but I would much rather receive a hand written letter in my mail box than a typed out letter through e-mail. I get it, technology has made it so much faster and easier for all of us. Let alone it can even save us money. For example how often do we even buy stamps now? I know I barely but stamps now a days. I can pay all my bills on the Internet now. That part is convenient don't get me wrong. But call me old fashion. I get all giddy when I receive a letter, a thank you card or some sort of fun mail that is not junk mail.

So after life seemed to settled down after the Thanksgiving festivities, we had to take a gander up to the cabin to fetch my migraine RX that I had left up there the previous weekend. Of course I had the brilliant idea of squeezing in a quick Christmas photo shoot of the girls with a fun idea I had in mind. When ever I get an idea my brain it just won't stop. My poor husband right? Kind of like my writing. You know your a true writer when you literally can't sleep at night when you have all these ideas popping into your mind. Do you sleep with a a pen and paper next your bed? I'm guilty as charged. Ha ha.

Therefore I figured I would share some of the photos that I will be making our family photo Christmas cards with. I still can't decides if I want to get crafty and make the cards and inset the pictures. Or save myself time and just print it all together? They did great for the most part. But as a photographer it always seems that my own children do not cooperate as well as well as children clients who are not my own. Weird!

 Always have to try to get a normal one in of all three girls.

This is what happens when your the baby sister. You are overly loved. But is there such thing as over loved? I don't think so at all. She may not always enjoy the kisses. But she does love to dish them out as well.

 The two oldest. The picture pretty much sums it up. They do love each other believe it or not. Yet they may not want to show it right now. They are best friends too. Maybe when they get older they will show it more. At least that's my hope for them. 

 lastly, I will always and forever be thankful and cherish the gift of my three daughters that God has gave me. I will cherish every moment and challenge as a mother of three daughters.

Photo Friday: V's 1ST Field Trip!

Monday Viv had her first ever school field trip. Their trip was to Well's Apple Orchard. Perfect for the season here in Michigan. The class were taught how apples grow on a farm and of course all the other little facts that go along with growing apples.

At the end of the field trip they snacked on cider and donuts. Fits the theme right? After they let go of their butterfly they raised in their class. It was such a beautiful morning for a beautiful field trip.

Photo Friday!

Is it really Friday already? I feel like this week went by like a flash if lightning. Which it totally fine with me because I am so ready for the weekend and not having to wake up before the sunrise. Wednesday it was just Helen, my husband and I for the morning once we dropped the two older girls girls off at school. We decided to venture out to Riverside Park in Grand Rapids for some picture taking. In the photos is one of my favorite bridges in Grand Rapids.

 Nothing better than a ride on daddy's shoulders. Sometimes I wish I were a little girl again. Ha ha.

Photo Friday!

Wow, what a busy week we had. This is the last week of summer break for our two oldest girls. Our week consisted of pre-school orientation along with first grade orientation. We have been playing as much as possible outdoors, with neighbor friends and just having a blast. Along with spending some important family time. In the midst of all that I have been trying my hardest to catch up on my mountain of laundry. The goal is before school starts.

Wednesday we went to the Critter Barn. Great farm with many animals to pet, feed and hold. The girls were in heaven.

The girls adored the baby chicks and didn't want to leave them.

This week we had somewhat of a relaxing week. Nothing out of the ordinary. Your basic trip to the park, play date at a friends, coffee, trying to get caught up on laundry, I'm sure you get the drift. 

Although we did do something a tad different. We went on a little photo session with my new camera. I am still learning the ins and outs of my new Canon. I know I have to invest in a better photo editing program. I'm thinking photoshop in my future. Are you a photographer? If so, what editing program do you use?
