A Wonderful Weekend

What a wonderful weekend it was. I love with weekends that involve quality family time and the beach.

Friday Our oldest went to stay with Grandma and Grandpa D since they had my niece. They were able to have quality cousin time and get away from the little kids. Since older sissy was away for the night we took advantage and spent a special evening with the two young ones. We did one of our favorite things to do in summer; go out for ice cream. I decided to take them to the Jersey Junction for their first time. They loved it.

Saturday evening we meet up with my parents who had our oldest and niece, along with my grandpa and his significant other at Holland beach. Oh how I love going to the beach. Holland is along the coast of Lake Michigan; one of the great lakes. We enjoyed lovely cook out next to the sand dunes while the kids played in the soft sand. Although the beach is one of my favorite places, the sand is not my favorite with little kids. Once we finished our
cook out we trekked down to the lake. Helen our littlest one did not want to be carried. It took a short while to get down the beach he he he. I couldn't believe her little legs walked through all that sand. They did some swimming while we watched the sun set. perfect ending for our Saturday.

The first weekend of summer couldn't have been any better.

Just Helen and Us!

This weekend we had a little taste of what it use to be like having only one kid. Sunday afternoon the two older girls went up to the cabin with their Papa and Grandma for an over night trip. Leaving it to just my husband and I with the littlest till Monday evening. I admit I forgot what it felt like with just one child in the house. Boy was it quiet and honestly a little strange.  Although the no screaming, fighting and whining was nice for a change.
At first Helen didn't quit know what to do with herself without her two big sissy's. After a short while she adjusted and must of thought, "hey this is pretty nice." Ha ha ha. She could play with whatever toy she wanted to and have nothing taken away or have to fight for it. And of course she ate up all the mommy and daddy one on one time.

We enjoyed our time by going on a long 2 mile walk. Once again it didn't feel normal using a single stroller. Monday morning we took Helen out for breakfast. Going out for breakfast is one of my favorite things to do. We ended our special time playing around the house.

Myself on the other hand didn't quit know what to do. Helen pretty much entertained herself. Is it crazy to say I was a tad bit bored? That's when I realized I am definitely a mother of three when I feel lost without the other two around. I kept thinking to myself it was strange that my life once was like this for 2.5 years when Evalyn was our only child.

I must say...I was ecstatic when my two older love bugs came home! My home was complete again.
