Birthdays are always a super duper ( as my V would say) big event in our family. Birthdays are not just a one time day that we celebration. Birthdays have become a week long celebration. Almost longer since we like to drag them out.
Birthdays start out with planning. You know the little "parties" and "present" talk. Although I always remind my dear Daughters, "It's about being blessed and turning another year old and presents are only a bonus." I never want my Daughters to start sounding greedy about presents on their Birthday.
V's Birthday week.
This year we started out V's birthday week looking through her baby photos. She absolutely loves going through her own baby photos. She literally oohs and ahs at them. It brought me back to the night or should I say evening when she was born and she loves hearing all about that stoary as well. Silly kid. I have to admit this years weather reminded me so much of the day she was born. Unseasonably warm and bright beautiful day full of sunshine. I remember telling myself while in labor, " this is the most gorgeous day to be in labor having a baby" as I looked out the hospital window. That truly is what helped me through the labor and delivery. Also knowing I was going home with a spring baby!
We celebrated her birthday at school at the star student. She has planned to bring in donuts since this summer for her birthday. Talk about planning ahead! She waited all year so far to celebrate in class with her classmates and teachers.
And finally Saturday the official day of her Birth...the BIG 6! The biggest day of the week. We woke up with her birthday present. Followed by a surprise trip to Starbucks for a cake pop with Mommy. Followed by baking her special birthday cake for her little family party we had later in the day.
I still cannot believe out V is now 6 years old. I am going to be cliche and say time sure does fly by. I am so proud of the little women she is blossoming into even though her anxiety sometimes may get the best of her. She is strong willed and has matured enough to finally learn that somethings we just do say outside of our heads. Thank you....finally! Ha. She has become a great teacher to her little Sister and a comfort blanket when needed as a big Sister.
I hope I tell her enough how proud I am!
Phrases from V during her Birthday week
- V-"It's my birthday week so I get whatever I want all week long right Mom?!" Me (Mom)- "Well it's your birthday week yes and that's very special, but no we don't get everything we want."
- V- "Is it my actual birthday yet?!"
- V- " How many more hours till I was born?"
- V- "This many people in Starbucks makes my stomach hurt." Me- "That's okay its apart of your anxiety. I get it too."
- V- "ahh....this was the birth birth....day ever!
I hope I tell her enough how proud I am!

Happy Birthday! Birthday are and will always be special #ibabloggers
My kids all asked the same things when it was their birthday - I guess those questions are universal. Thanks for sharing your sweet story!
