You Are No Longer That Back 2 School Rookie Mom

My alarm started going off at 6AM. A half hour earlier than the previous school year. This year I knew I needed the extra half hour of time before the rest of the house awoke. Me time is important. I pushed the coffee on button and continued to prepared myself for the big "back to school day." I glance over at the kitchen counter and see the backpacks all lined up. I continue to open the fridge to grab my hazelnut creamer and see the already prepared school lunches from the night before.

With a steaming cup of coffee in my hand I am ready to conquer the school morning. The girls first day back outfits already laid out from the night before, full of excitement waiting for little girls to wear them. A breakfast prepared at the kitchen table with of course with some brain food. Yes...I know...why Mom?! Because I said so, that's why. Actually I probably said something along the lines, "Because brain food helps you think better in school." I put their lovely locks of hair into braided pig tails and out the door we go. Oh yeah...we can't forget the cliche first day of school pictures.
We arrive to school and I drop off the oldest first so she can go mingle with her classmates she's missed all summer before the whistle goes off. She's old enough now she didn't need me or really want me to go with her. After all she is now a big second grader.
Once big Sister was dropped off we parked to walk in our Kindergartner. As we are walking a parent start chatting with me about how it's her first year at the school and her son is going into first. I mention back the grades and how long we have attended the school. Going on 4 years and now having two Daughters attending. She replies, "Oh your experienced here!" I gave her a chuckle back with a little more of a conversation.

Then it hit me, I am no longer that rookie Mom at school. Yes I may be dropping off my second child to her fist day of Kindergarten but I am that experienced Mom in the school. I am that Mom who will start telling you which teachers in which grades to far we prefer. Why we love the school. Even better yet, why you should start becoming involved. I am no loner that rookie Mom instead I am picking out the rookie Moms and making them feel welcomed as they did to me and my Daughters when it was my first year at our school.

Awwww YES! Not a rookie mom anymore either and I have all kinds of opinions on who we like teacher wise. The best way to communicate with certain teachers and on and on. Morning routines however... Still throw me. Lol.
