Thanksgiving

As I was sitting here debating which direction to start my Thanksgiving post, the first things that clicked in my  head was, never send your husband to the grocery store for you. I volunteered to make homemade mashed sweet potatoes with the melted marshmallows on top. They are my favorite every year. Therefore I send my husband out to the store. He comes home with these giant sweet potatoes! The first sentence that came out of my mouth was, "Did you look through to find the biggest sweet potatoes?!" Don't get me wrong, I was laughing. His response was, "yes I did, they were on sale 15 cents a pound. So I tried finding the biggest sweet potatoes I could." We both had a good chuckle out of it though, and it didn't take me as long to peel them.

This year we had Thanksgiving with my husbands side of the family at the cabin. We switch it every other year between my family and his. It works out great that way for us. It was such a beautiful 60 degree day; one of the warmest Thanksgivings we have had. On our way up to the cabin, we were able to enjoy a relaxing country drive.

While enjoying our Thanksgiving up at the cabin with family, we were able to go on a hike through the woods. We relaxed by the fireplace and let the girls play. And of course we enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast. My in laws prepared a wonderful turkey. After we indulged into pie. My all time favorite is pumpkin pie. I already counting down for next Thanksgiving.

Weekend Review

After feeling in a rut with our daily routine, it was time to get away. My husbands parents have a cabin 45 minutes north from our home, so we went to relax. Our daughters love going to the cabin. We enjoyed family time warming by the fireplace. Of course we took a hike into the woods. We wrapped Helen in the KTan wrap, and we were off.  I love treasure hunting with my girls, and enjoying God's beauty. While the girls play, I enjoy some time knitting. We don't do much when we go up there but relax. That's the whole idea though! We really enjoyed going up to the cabin, and definitely needed it. Here are the few pictures I snapped with my phone!
We zipped Helen in my coat to keep warm.

Finished my husbands hunting hat!
my new project; a washcloth for the girls! Their request.

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!
