What Is Baby Led Weaning?

As I have mentioned before on my blog our youngest Daughter is now going on three years old. I'm starting to feel as if I am falling to into the dinosaur ages of the babyhood stages.
Which brings me into baby led weaning. I started hearing this phrase from Mothers here and there but never paid to much attention to it. Not enough to research what it actually meant. So here it was it briefly came to my mind when I would hear the phrase: Baby Led Weaning. Weaning to me meant, weaning your child from breast feeding. Baby meant..well obviously a live breathing baby to me. And led meant like led from a pencil whether it was spelled correctly or not. Whether it may sound silly, stupid or crazy that is what came to my mind every time I heard the phrase.
Finally I came across a Facebook status and it had a hashtag #babyledweaning. This certain Facebook status just caught my eye that I had to absolutely research what Baby Led Weaning is this time. After researching Baby Led Weaning here is what I learned....Nothing New.  Seriously.
Baby led Weaning is something we have all been doing for years even back in our dinosaur ages. I suppose someone choose to officially put a name on it. It is officially weaning them off baby food, purees, etc. and introducing them to our foods in tiny bites that they can pick up themselves.

Our youngest Daughter never liked or would take baby/ purred food. We would have to chop our food very small for her. She did great with it. So I they now have a phrase or name for it now. Why didn't I think of it before? Ha ha! Therefore this whole time I did Baby led Weaning with our oldest once she started baby food at 6 months.

Do you Baby Led Weaning? What are your thoughts?
