- Each child carries their emotions differently.
- They sometimes have different interests.
- I could go on and on...
One myth that seems to hold true with multiples is the order of the children seem to play a roll in their personalities. You know the myth where, the first born is the laid back book nerd personality. The second born seems to be your definite child who is not afraid to talk. A little more of a learning curve from the first born. And the third born...yes they come off as sweet and caring. They are the nurturing ones who hold the siblings together but can also hold their own ground. Therefore do not be fooled by the third born. ( Least that is what I have learned thus far.)
Since we had our 3 daughters I learned quickly that the myth held true. Somehow for some reason unknown. We parent our daughters as equal as possible and discipline just as fairly. But right when I think I have this parenting thing figured out with 3 kids, I'm proven wrong. Or it seems that way.
The story...
yesterday when the girls when to get Helen out of her room after nap time, Vivian runs out to me and says in a frantic tone, "Mom! Helen changed into something! She's not Helen no more." Of course my first thoughts were she's covered in blood. I know that sounds drastic but what els would make her change and not look like Helen anymore! I run into her bedroom and I see this....
The words that instantly came out of my mouth were, "Oh my goodness!" Picture me saying it in slow motion as well. I was honestly in shock that my sweet, nurturing and sometimes a little stinker did this. I was also happy she did not hurt herself, because I don't think she even took a nap.
So she emptied a whole container of Vaseline into her hair, onto the dresser, books, the wall, and covered her dress in it. Let me tell you the Vaseline was in a basket up on a shelf that she would have had to stand up to get. YIKES. The chair she had set nicely next to her dresser is not that high. She had to climb up the dresser from the chair. Again...YIKES and thank God she didn't hurt herself. Yes I'm still washing Vaseline out of her hair.
I started thinking maybe Vivian thought Helen changed into something els because of the glossy look the Vaseline gave. Or maybe because Vivian thought Helen had to of magically climb and grab the stuff that she was able to get. Trust me I do monitor what my kids watch on T.V.
In theory I'm learning that our 3rd child is an undercover destructive monkey, but yet so nurturing on the outside for the most part. I told my mother yesterday, "I have my house very baby proofed but apparently not Helen proofed."
What child of yours keeps you young??
