How I fought Off The Terrible No Good Flu- Recipe Included

It may already be the first week into a the new year and I am already sick. Let me explain. New Years Eve I came down with one of the most dreadful cases of the flu strains out there. Okay maybe the worse I've ever had. I am not typically a cry baby when I am sick. I am Mother who pushes through any sickness. Not this time! I was in bed...couldn't lift my head or arms...there were joints in my body that hurt I didn't even know existed people. A couple days later after having the flu I cried like a baby. Yes I am admitting it! I believe most people in my situation were/ would have gone to the ER. Me....well I had the thought of "there were more sick people and germs there."

After all I fought it at home without antibiotics. Here is how I did and I wanted to share with you because I feel it really has helped me recover even better than the last time. I may have felt a ton worse but the recovery time was shorter. A week later I'm back on me feet compared to two-three weeks as before.

Here is how I fought the Terrible No Good Flu!

  1. Drink plenty of water.  I had a fever for about four days. Fevers will dehydrate you causing you to feel weak on top of being sick. Therefore drinking water to stay hydrated and also drinking water to flush out the toxins I cannot repeat enough. Start as soon as you feel it coming on. Even add a slice of lemon in your water.
  2. Rest. Allow yourself to sit/ law and relax. Pop in a movie for yourself or your kids. A movie day or two is not the end of the world. Allow your spouse to take care of the kids and the house. It may not meet up to your standards...just let it be. I had to learn that one. Your body needs rest! Seriously just sleep.
  3. Proper food.  Eat the proper veggies and fruits....if you can keep it down or even look at food. Until then stick to the brat diet. People think eating sugar and candy will give you that push your body needs to feel better. Ugh....I feel that is so wrong! Sugar defeats your immune system. You will get natural sugar from your proper fruits.
  4. Juicing. I juiced a lot...every day when I was sick. It was a lot easier for me to drink liquids than to eat a lot of foods while I was sick. Juicing is very healthy for you if you do it correctly. Here is my flu fighting juice recipe:
                                                                     1/2 cup of kale

         Hand full of pineapple
          Hand full of strawberries
           1/2 hand of papaya

Has your home been hit with the flu this year? It sure is going around and it's not pretty. I pray for everyone who has it to heal quickly!  Here is to a healthier year.
